Cutty Sark

The Cutty Sark was one of the fastest ships of its type on the
famous Tea Route from the shores of China to the London
Docks. Since 1957 she has been in dry dock in Greenwich,
London, attracting visitors from around the world. This much
loved ship was almost destroyed in a major fire on 21st May
2007; its hoped she can be fully restored.

The Sark was first lauched on 22nd November 1869, built as a
clipper - fast, large sailed cargo ship, designed by Hercules
Linton of Scott and Linton in Dumbarton, Scotland. After being
fitted with her masts she sailed to London to be loaded up
with spirits, beer and wine, on 16th February, 1870, she left
for her first voyage to China under the command of Captain
George Moodie.
