An independent reference project
Woodcraft Parts Workshop is an independent reference site for people planning work in small workshops: bench heights, dowel and axle fits, sanding quantities, nest-box cutting lists, saw selection, and one compact legacy calculator for Lionel FasTrack lengths. It is not a shop and it sells nothing. There is nothing to buy here, no basket, and no affiliate catalogue dressed up as advice.
About this domain
This domain has changed hands over the years; Woodcraft Parts Workshop is a new, independent project and is not connected to any business that previously traded here.
Where an address from the old site still had a genuine destination — a handful of articles and two or three catalogue pages with a working equivalent here — it is redirected to that destination. Everything else has been retired honestly rather than funnelled to the homepage; the retired-pages note explains how.
What the calculators are
Every tool on this site is a planning aid. Each takes a measurement you provide, applies a published method with published constants, and returns a starting point you should confirm against the work in front of you — with a worked example and its rounding rules shown.This is a planning aid, not an engineering or safety certification. Nothing here is a substitute for the manual, the guarding or the judgement that belongs to the machine and the bench in front of you.
How facts are sourced
A fact either carries a reference or it is labelled a workshop rule of thumb — the site does not blur the two. Sourced facts appear with superscript references that resolve to a ledger of full attributions; the sources page lists every reference the site relies on, with access dates. The methodology pagedescribes the calculators' shared conventions — pure functions, published constants, fixtures and the rounding vocabulary — in one place.
The site claims no credentials, no years in business, no team and no testimonials — if a page ever seems to, that is a defect worth reporting once a feedback channel is published.
